NAME
appletalk - a general purpose AppleTalk I/O driver utility
SYNOPSIS
appletalk [-a] [-d] [-e] [-i] [-u] [-fnetwork] [-nxx] [-rxx]
DESCRIPTION
AppleTalk is a general purpose utility for starting up and
shutting down the AppleTalk network, and for miscellaneous
control and information reporting functions dealing with
AppleTalk. The following arguments are supported:
-a Prints out the actual AppleTalk node address. If
AppleTalk is not yet active on the system, zero will
be printed out.
-d Removes this node from the network. Only the super-
user may use this option.
-e Prints out statistics and error counts.
-f network is the network to access. If this option is
not present, the default /dev/appletalk is used.
-i Prints out the initial AppleTalk node address.
-n xx Sets the initial AppleTalk node address to xx. The
initial AppleTalk node address is an address that
the AppleTalk UNIX I/O driver attempts to use first
when the AppleTalk network is activated. If the
address is already in use, then another address will
be randomly generated and used until a address is
found that is not in use. After the AppleTalk
network is activated, setting this address has no
immediate effect, though it will be used as the next
initial address when and if this node is activated
again.
-r xx Sets the number of RTS attempts to xx. If xx is not
present, this option will print out the number of
RTS attempts to make when transmitting a frame.
-u Starts the network up. You must be super-user to use
this option.
EXAMPLE
au -u
will bring the default network up using its current
configuration.
