compare

Displays the differences between two versions of an element, or the differences
between a version and a file.

Format

compare {element_name[version_specifier] | pathname}
        {element_name[version_specifier] | pathname}
        [-width nn] [-serial] [-tiny]

Description

This command compares two versions of an element, two files, or a version and a
file.

If you need to distinguish an element from a file in your working directory that
has the same name as the element, use a version specifier. If the element name
is unique (i.e., no file in your working directory has that name) and you omit
the version specifier, the DSEE facility uses the most recent version of the
element.

If the named element is not in the current library and you have a current system
model setting, the DSEE facility searches the current model for an Element of
the given name. If it finds a single Element block with the same name, the DSEE
facility resets your current library setting to the library containing that
Element's primary dependency and then performs the specified operation.

compare defaults to a parallel, two-column display format. A vertical line
separates the text of the first object cited in the command line from that of
the second. The text of the first object is in the left column.

The -width option changes the width of the display to nn characters. The
-serial option displays the differences in serial, rather than columnar format,
beginning with the text of the first object. The -tiny option displays the text
of the objects in a small font.

 Options:

 -serial Displays the differences in serial, rather than columnar
                  format. Displays changed text from first version,
                  followed by the changes in the second version.

 -width nn Changes the width of the display to "nn" characters.

 -tiny Displays the text of the objects in a small font.
