PCI_ASSIST PCI_ASSIST
NAME
pci_assist - lists Domain filenames and directories transparent to DOS
SYNTAX
pci_assist directory_name [-a] [-i]
DESCRIPTION
This command enables you to list text file extensions in the pci_cvrt.dat
file and all Domain/OS file and directory names that DOS cannot display.
Before running the pci_assist command, you need to be using the DPCI
terminal emulator, DTERM. The pci_assist command needs to be entered at
an Aegis or UNIX shell prompt.
OPTIONS
directory_name Indicates the name of the directory you want pci_assist to
examine. If you omit this option, pci_assist examines
your current directory.
-a Displays the list of text file extensions listed in the
pci_cvrt.dat file, if that file is in the directory being
examined or if it's in the /sys/dpci directory.
-i Displays all the Domain/OS objects DOS cannot see
(invisible objects).
If you do not specify any options, pci_assist displays the list of
extensions in the pci_cvrt.dat file and all the Domain/OS names that DOS
cannot display.
EXAMPLES
Listing Transparent Files in a Domain Directory
This example shows the result of examining a Domain directory that
contains four filenames that DOS cannot display.
$ pci_assist
PCI_ASSIST - Version 5.0
Server UASC file extension list from
/sys/dpcc/pci_cvrt.dat:
asm bak bat
c dat doc

$$$
Domain Objects with NO EQUIVALENT DOS name:
Domain_Name_____ DOS_Name__
monthly reports none
user_data none
file.abc.bak none
ab++c none
DOS cannot display the files monthly_reports or user_data because their
names have more than eight characters. DOS cannot display the file
file.abc.bak because it has more than one period. And, it cannot display
the file ab++c because it contains characters that are illegal in DOS.
