LPSCHED(1M) DOMAIN/IX Reference Manual (SYS5) LPSCHED(1M)

NAME
lpsched, lpshut, lpmove - start or stop the lp request
     scheduler; move lp requests

USAGE
     /usr/lib/lpsched
     /usr/lib/lpshut
     /usr/lib/lpmove requests dest
     /usr/lib/lpmove dest1 dest2

DESCRIPTION
Lpsched schedules requests taken by lp(1) for printing on
line printers; the command also restarts the scheduling pro-
cess after an lpshut. Note that lpsched may be run on a node
other than the one running the scheduler, but that the node
which runs lpsched must have a local copy (not just a link)
of the appropriate lp spool directory.

Lpshut shuts down the line printer scheduler. All printers
that are printing at the time lpshut is invoked will stop
printing. Requests that were printing at the time a printer
was shut down will be reprinted in their entirety after
lpsched is started again. All lp commands perform their
functions even when lpsched is not running.

Lpmove moves lp requests between lp destinations. This com-
mand may be used only when lpsched is not running.

The first form of the command moves the named requests to
the lp destination, dest. Requests are request ids as
returned by lp. The second form moves all requests for des-
tination dest1 to destination dest2. As a side effect, lp
     will reject requests for dest1.

Note that lpmove never checks the acceptance status (see
accept(1M)) for the new destination when moving requests.
