NAME
     addroot - add a root ID

USAGE
     /etc/addroot

DESCRIPTION
     Addroot adds a privileged ``root'' person-ID to the network
     registry.  It need only be done for network registries esta-
     blished with software supplied prior to Apollo Software
     Release 9 (SR9), and is normally done as part of the SR9
     installation procedure.  Addroot must be run prior to adding
     a ``root'' log-in account (with /com/edacct) or using
     chown(1) to establish super-user ownership of files.

NOTES
     After executing addroot, crpasswd(1M) should be run to
     update the accounting files in /etc.

     Addroot will succeed only if executed by a process that has
     the appropriate access to the network registry.
