ENABLE(1) DOMAIN/IX Reference Manual (SYS5) ENABLE(1)

NAME
enable, disable - enable or disable LP printers

USAGE
     enable printers
     disable [ -c ] [-r[``reason'']] printers

DESCRIPTION
Enable activates the named printers, enabling them to print
requests from lp(1). Use lpstat(1) to find the status of
     printers.

Disable deactivates the named printers, preventing them from
printing requests from lp(1). By default, any requests that
are currently printing on the designated printers will be
reprinted in their entirety either on the same printer (when
it is re-enabled) or on another member of the same class of
printer. Use lpstat(1) to find the status of printers.

OPTIONS
These options apply only to disable.

-c Cancel any requests that are currently printing on
               any of the designated printers.

     [-r[``reason'']]
Give a reason why the printers are disabled. (The
reason must appear in double quotes.) This reason
applies to all printers mentioned up to the next
-r option. If the -r option is not present or the
-r option is given without a reason, then the sys-
tem supplies a default message that will be
printed, usually, ``reason unknown''. Reason is
               reported by lpstat(1).
